Historical Tapestry is hosting the 2011 Historical Fiction Reading Challenge from Jan. 1, 2011, through Dec. 31, 2011. I’m signing up for the “Severe Bookaholism” level with 20 books. I have a list of 18 so far, but with the U.S. Civil War Reading Challenge, I’m sure I’ll be reading a lot of historical fiction this year.

2. Dangerous Neighbors by Beth Kephart
3. The Help by Kathryn Stockett
4. Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum
5. Skeletons at the Feast by Chris Bohjalian
6. Small Wars by Sadie Jones
7. The Red Tent by Anita Diamant
8. Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier
9. Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt
10. Lily of the Nile by Stephanie Dray
11. By Fire, By Water by Mitchell James Kaplan
12. Lebensborn by Joann Bender
13. War on the Margins by Libby Cone

15. The Calligrapher’s Daughter by Eugenia Kim

I never realized how much historical fiction I read until I started blogging, so I’m really looking forward to this challenge!

Oh, now, here I thought I was all done with challenges for the coming year but then I’m planning on reading several historical fiction novels this year so….But I don’t want to commit and then fail again like I did with so many this year!

I try not to join to many challenges because I don’t want to fail them, but since I really plan on clearing my shelves of these books in 2011, I think I have a good chance. But I look at reading challenges as a way to broaden my horizons and have fun, and if I fail, oh, well. 🙂

Thanks! You, too. I don’t know why I didn’t join last year and why I’m only learning about it now. At least I can change that for 2011. Looking forward to seeing what you read for the challenge.

It’s been quite some years since I read it, but I recall liking The Red Tent.

I’m glad to hear that. My late father-in-law had nothing but good things to say about it and told me that I had to read it. When I stumbled upon a copy at a recent library sale, I just had to bring it home.
