The video team at Penguin Random House has created a two-minute stop-motion animated video tribute to Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The video is part of its Kick-a** Characters series honoring beloved characters in literature. It’s a cute and funny video that had me cracking up. Check it out:
Do you think it’s a fitting tribute to our dear Lizzy? She is one of my favorite literary characters for the reasons listed in the video and more. Why do you love Elizabeth? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I know there is an ongoing fascination with Pride and Prejudice. But it’s just something I never got into. Maybe I will read the original someday.

I definitely recommend giving the original a try. It may not make you want to read the variations, but it might give you an idea about what the story and characters are so popular today.

Loved it. And am forwarding it to my daughter and daughter whom I can not convince to read the book. Although my granddaughter LOVES Goodnight, Mr. Darcy…2 years old.

Really glad you posted this. I loved it. I’m really a sucker for the Wang Bros. board books with their felt creations! This was adorable. I doubt it would convince someone who you would like to share it with, but was set against reading P&P. I just think it has to be the right time in someone’s life to appreciate it, and that can be any age or stage. Now I want to see what this team does with other books. 🙂

How lovely was that? Yes, almost all of us love Elizabeth for the reasons in the video, despite or possibly also because of her fault. Darcy isn’t the only one who carries out personal remedial work during the course of P&P.

Indeed! Even though it’s not meant to be taken seriously, I think the video does a good job highlighting why Elizabeth is such a compelling character.

We love our Elizabeth and Darcy, even in a stop–action video. How creative. It was adorable. It is also a cute way to introduce someone to the story by letting them watch the stop-action video. Then they might read the book.

Loved it! I have bought for my grand-daughter’s first Christmas the Baby-lit P&P and after that, the Wang series P&P. Never too young to start! I love Lizzy for her spirit and independent thinking along with her fierce protection of her family and friends!
