The Girl’s graduation cake (coconut, by request) made by my talented husband 🙂
Diary of an Eccentric is 7 years old!! Wow! And I can’t believe I’ve been so busy that I missed my big day (June 4). I really appreciate all of your support over the years. I have made so many friends through this blog, and you all mean so much to me.
I’m sorry I haven’t been around much these last couple of months, but things have been so hectic that I’ve barely had time to read. And I miss reading and blogging and reading all your blogs so much, I really do.
The past two weeks were such a whirlwind, with The Girl’s 8th grade dinner and dance, chaperoning the class trip to Hershey Park, helping out with field day, cheering on Jerry and The Girl in the 8th grade vs. faculty/parent softball game, screaming like a fool when she scored her first goal in her last soccer game, and then tearing up as she received her diploma, won the subject award in READING (so proud!!), and had her high school scholarship announced. Best of all, my mom came from CT for the graduation and the party we held for a small gathering of friends, and it was just so wonderful to hug her because I hadn’t seen her in over a year. Of course, the four days she stayed with us flew by, and before we knew it, we were on the train platform saying goodbye. Sniff, sob!
Now that things are settling down, I really hope to get back to reading and blogging regularly. Over the past two weeks, I’ve been in go-go-go mode, with barely enough time to sleep, let alone read. I managed to read about 80 pages on the bus ride to and from Hershey (which is a big accomplishment, given the screaming 8th graders behind me), but that was really just a tease. So this weekend, between naps and laundry and maybe even taking The Girl to see The Fault in Our Stars (with pockets filled with tissues), I hope to get reacquainted with my TBR tower.
But before I get back to a regular blogging schedule, I need a little time to breathe and be still and enjoy the feel of a book in my hands, so please bear with me.

I’m afraid to go see The Fault in Our Stars in a public theater! LOL I may have to wait so I can sob in the privacy of home! :–)
And Happy Blogiversary!!!

Congratulations! If you want to read a real goodie – try the Martian by Andy Weir? I’m not into sci fi but found it quite riveting. Cheers

End of the year is crazy. It’s been hectic for us too. We both need to catch up on sleep, don’t we. After my daughter finishes all her exams we’re hitting the movies to watch The Fault in Our Stars. So glad you got to see your mom!

Happy blogiversary, Anna! I enjoy your blog very much. Your reviews are always thoughtful and well written. Life does get busy, doesn’t it?! Last month was super busy for me as well, and I didn’t have time to read or blog much. I just saw The Fault in Our Stars yesterday. It really is a good movie, and I now want to read John Green’s books.

7 years! Wow! I’ve been taking breaks too, but you can count on me to be reading along, largely in what Florinda at 3 Rs calls “companionable silence.”

Last night in line for the movies I was behind a group of early teens. I heard the mom ask if everyone had tissue. One girl looked at her and said, “I only brought two. I hope that’s enough.” Totally made me laugh.
So glad you got to spend time with your mom. My parents moved here in February to be closer to Gage and I feel so spoiled.
