Welcome to my new home at WordPress! It appears as though I’ve successfully moved all posts and comments from Blogger, and I was able to get Blogger to automatically redirect you here.
I think I successfully updated my Feedburner feed (Serena says she didn’t update her feed and saw this post…and others are saying the same thing so I must’ve done something right), so the move hopefully will be seamless for my readers. Even so, I’ve added a subscriber widget for you to update your feed/subscriptions if necessary. I’m not very tech savvy, so if you notice a problem, please let me know; any advice is much appreciated!
Since all my pages of book review links and author interviews, plus the stuff I had in my sidebar, didn’t make it over, I’ll be adding to the site in the coming days. Please pardon the dust while construction is in progress!
I’d like to thank a few people who helped me along the way: Serena for helping me weigh my options and putting up with all my craziness as I prepared for the big move; Mary for convincing me that the move from Blogger to WordPress wasn’t all that difficult; and Dar for providing me with the information I needed to automatically redirect readers from Blogger to my new digs. And of course, thanks to all my readers for following me from one blog to another!

I don’t think you have to change anything to continue getting post updates since I updated the Feedburner feed.

Good luck over at WordPress! This might not be the place to ask – but what are the advantages/disadvantages of the move? I notice that a lot of people do it but am wondering about the whys and wherefors….

Thanks, Hannah!
The main reason I moved was the problems I was having in Blogger. My profile link had been broken for over two years and I couldn’t get any help from the Blogger Help forums. The same day their new template designer went live, I was unable to log in to my blog in Firefox or Chrome (had to use Internet Explorer), as I kept getting redirected to a blank page. If I hit refresh, I was signed in, but I’d get redirected if I tried to post or edit something. I did a deep spyware/virus/malware scan which turned up nothing, so I sought assistance in the help forums and was told that they didn’t know what was going on. So that was the last straw, as I was so worried that I’d lose everything at some point.
The biggest benefits of WordPress to me is being able to reply to comments individually, and I think it’s overall easier to use. However, Blogger probably has a wider range of templates at this point, and there are more widgets.
If you have any other questions, just ask!

Thanks! I’m going to add a couple more things to the sidebar, but I think simplicity really works for me. The pages at the top really help when it comes to keeping everything neat.

The new blog home looks fabulous! I’ve considered the move, but haven’t really figured out if I’m ready to move it, or if I want to make the blog self-hosted. Thank goodness my husband is a computer geek and can help me when the time comes.
It must be a relief to finally have the transition done! 🙂

I have considered moving to WordPress countless numbers of times but the main thing that stopped me was how hard it would be to move things over and get people over here … especially since I bought my own custom domain last year. Is there a tutorial somewhere you could point me to on how to do this or did Dar help you out of the kindness of her heart? : )
Good for you … I think WordPress offers a lot!

Most of the tutorials we’re geared toward me because I don’t have my own domain (yet). I had created a WordPress account in 2008 but never used it. To make the switch, I exported my blog from Blogger and saved it on my computer. I went to import in the wordpress dashboard and uploaded the file. It took only a few minutes to get everything transferred and I think I lost only a handful of comments from three years ago.
To redirect the old blog to the new blog, Dar found a Web site with a line of code you insert in the blogger template (I could give you that info if you’d like; just email me).
And to make the seamless shift in the feed (which means people don’t have to update their subscriptions), I changed the original feed in feedburner to my new wordpress feed.
The last two steps took the longest because I had no idea what I was doing, but it would have taken just a few minutes if I was more tech savvy.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I’m more than happy to help if I can.

You did a much better job than I did when I moved to WordPress (and then back again to Blogger this June!). I was unable to get the automatic redirect, but I did get all my links, etc. Anyway, congratulations on your new home; I hope you like it very much!

Thanks, Bellezza. It took me forever to figure out the redirect, then Dar emailed me a link to a page that told me about the code I had to insert in the template. And it worked!
